Brazilian sociological theory and postcolonial criticism

چکیده
Abstract The article discusses to what extent sociological theories produced in the Brazilian academic field dialogue with a global intellectual movement criticizing coloniality and Eurocentric foundations of social sciences. Initially, we analyze challenges regarding attempts define two theoretical approaches, sociology, Postcolonial Thought, without overlooking their internal heterogeneities. Then, address tensions between these approaches as conditions for research agendas that bring both contributions into proximity. Finally, explore epistemological potential one agendas, which corresponds rereading theory light postcolonial criticism. This exercise canon is based on methodological program reduction Guerreiro Ramos, indicates reciprocal interrogation sociology thought, i.e., decentered look at our tradition also reveals from this future epistemologies.
